Liaison with National Electric Power Regulatory Authority and the Central Power Purchasing Agency (Guarantee) Limited on the wholesale electricity market through the implementation of the Competitive Trading Bilateral Contracts Market (CTBCM) model.
Acting as part of a consortium led by Bear Stearns & Co. Inc. and Coopers & Lybrand in connection with the pioneer privatization of Pakistan Telecommunications Corporation in the early 1990s.
Advising on the formation of a joint venture between a leading Pakistani business group and a US multinational automotive company, including a major dispute arising from the joint venture which was settled by payment of US$ 5 million to the Pakistani joint venture company.
Acting as a consultant for the Asian Development Bank in developing and drafting legislation to set up the Securities & Exchange Commission of Pakistan, the proposed Pakistan Insurance Regulatory Authority and in reviewing and revising Pakistan’s insurance laws.
Acting as Pakistan counsel as part of the consortium led by UBS AG (Warburg Dillon Read) advising the Privatization Commission of the Government of Pakistan in connection with the privatization of the Karachi Electric Supply Corporation (now K-Electric Limited), including restructuring debt and equity.
Acting for Credit Suisse in connection with the establishment of its Pakistan subsidiary and business operations in Pakistan.
Advising foreign and domestic petroleum exploration companies including Shell, Gulf Oil, and Pakistan Petroleum Limited on the drafting of petroleum concession and related documents and participating in negotiations with the Government of Pakistan in that connection.
Acting as Pakistan counsel in advising China Machinery Engineering Corporation in connection with a joint venture with Engro Corporation to develop an open cast mining facility and coal-fired power plant, including advising on compliance with competition laws.
Advising FINCA Microfinance Bank Limited on regulatory compliance matters and their initial public offering.
Acting for a consortium of European banks in connection with the financing of a North African mobile telephone project and security over its sponsors’ shares in a Pakistan mobile telephone company.
Acting for Telenor AS in connection with its bid for a mobile cellular licence, setting up its Pakistan subsidiary, and handling the roll-out of its network.
Acting for WorldTel in connection with their proposed investment in a rural radio link telecommunications project.
Acting for Sastaticket (Private) Limited, an online ticket booking service platform in Pakistan, in relation to software development services and regulatory compliance.
Advising Alipay Hong Kong Private Limited, a financial services company issuing electronic payment cards to Chinese nationals in Pakistan, on e-banking regulations and electronic fund transfers.
Advising Mastercard on e-banking regulations and laws on electronic fund transfers.
Advising Delivery Hero SE on the regulatory and licensing requirements in relation to e-money and wallets for their platforms in Pakistan.
