Maheen Faruqui has worked on various non-contentious corporate and commercial matters with a strong focus on project finance and mergers and acquisitions. Acting for both borrowers and lenders, she has a broad range of experience working on renewable (wind, hydel, and thermal) and non-renewable (coal, gas, and refined fuel oil) power projects, including projects under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, part of China’s Belt and Road Initiative.
In addition to her experience in the power sector, Maheen acts for major clients in relation to various commercial transactions and mergers and acquisitions, most notably in the banking and finance, pharmaceutical, media and information technology, and telecommunications sectors. She is the only practitioner from Pakistan named as one of IFLR1000’s Women Leaders and was nominated for the ‘Best in Structured Finance’ in the Euromoney Legal Media Group Asia Women in Business Law Awards 2017. In addition, Maheen is ‘Highly Regarded’ in Project Finance (IFLR) and recognised as a ‘Rising Star’ in Banking and Finance (Asia Law) in Pakistan.
